Walk into any lottery shop in India and you'll hear it: "the 1 o'clock one hits more" or "the 8 PM draw gives more jackpots." Every regular player has a favourite time slot — and a theory about why it's luckier. We decided to test this with real data instead of shop-talk.
We pulled every Nagaland Dear lottery 1st-prize (₹1 Crore) result from our published records — 211 jackpots across the 1PM (Morning), 6PM (Day) and 8PM (Evening) draws. Each draw is conducted independently by the Nagaland State Lotteries department, three times daily, 365 days a year.
The 1PM slot leads with 70 jackpots in our records — but look at the percentages. The split is close to even, exactly what you'd expect from three independent daily draws over the same period.
Here's the key insight: each draw uses a separate ticket series and a separate random draw. The 1PM result has zero influence on the 6PM result. There is no mechanism by which one slot could be "luckier" — the draws don't know about each other.
Three reasons: (1) Humans are pattern-seeking machines — we remember the two times our slot hit and forget the twenty times it didn't. (2) The 8PM draw gets more attention because it's the last result of the day, so its jackpots feel more memorable. (3) Sellers push the narrative — "the 8 PM one is hot" sells more tickets.
Play the slot that's convenient for you. Buy from a licensed seller, keep your ticket safe, and check the full result — not just the 1st prize. Most winning tickets win in the smaller tiers (₹120–₹10,000), and those are evenly spread across all three daily draws too.
One exception to "every slot pays the same": the festive Dear Puja Bumper 2026 draw on 24 October at 6 PM is not a regular slot draw at all — it pays a ₹3 Crore first prize across 7 tiers. Our Dear Puja Bumper 2026 guide breaks down its prize structure and how it differs from the daily draws.
Methodology: jackpot counts from our published Nagaland Dear results database. Draws are independent random events; past results do not influence future draws.
